Primary School Sports Coaching

PACES are a specialist provider of high-quality PE coaching for primary schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

We work with children, and their teachers, from reception up until the end of KS2 delivering sports coaching such as football, cricket, tennis, rugby, tag ruby, athletics, rounders, and many more. We’ve worked with many schools in the region, all of whom have been impressed with the way we deliver our primary school sports coaching in Hereford and the surrounding area. Our sessions are meticulously planned, creatively delivered, and are tangibly tracked, so the school can see how both individuals and the entire school has improved.

Our approach to Primary School Sports Coaching

We work closely with the class teacher to help them plan, deliver, and track the impact of the sports programme.

Highly experienced staff

Our full-time sports coaches are highly qualified, and experienced. This means we can offer a consistent service to our schools, and form long term, effective working relationships. Alongside this we also employ sports coaching apprentices who are learning with the support of the PACES team.

Work closely with teachers

We involve the class teachers fully in our planning process and ensure they are actively involved in delivering the agreed sports activities. During the course of our long-term working relationships whilst we deliver our primary school sports coaching in Hereford we see teachers’ confidence and knowledge soar, as they understand our approach and the results it delivers.

Teach the skills

We use the various different sports as a way of teaching children the fundamentals of movement, balance, and co-ordination – and in a fun and engaging way. We aim to teach the curriculum not just the sports!

Core values

Every aspect of our primary school sports coaching in Herefordshire & Worcestershire is delivered according to our core values of reliability, consistency, and accountability. We take ownership of our programmes and the results they deliver and have an incredible track record of delivering successful, engaging, and professional sports coaching.

How we work with our Schools

We work closely with the class teacher to help them plan, deliver, and track the impact PE School Sport and Physical Activity.

This can give them the confidence and knowledge to become more actively involved in the planning and delivery as time goes on.

Planning

We start by meeting with the school sports co-ordinator to agree a sports programme and timetable, which we document for ease of reference for all parties. We’ll plan the first lesson in detail, which will include a plan for both the children and the teacher, along with expected outcomes. After the first lesson, we’ll involve the teacher in the planning of all subsequent lessons, with them getting more and more involved, in both planning and delivery, as their confidence increases.

Delivery

While delivering our primary school sports coaching in Herefordshire & Worcestershire, we’ll ensure all children are participating, growing their confidence, and having fun. But the actual PE lesson is so much more than the lesson itself. Preparation is key, to ensure we have a clear focus on the 5 key indicators schools will be assessed on. And gathering evidence during the lesson is vital, so the school can prove they have delivered the required outcomes.

Tracking

We report on the 5 key indicators that schools are assessed on to quality for the School Sports Premium:

  • The engagement of all pupils in physical activity
  • The increased profile of PE within the school
  • Increased confidence, knowledge, and skills of school personnel
  • Offering a broad range of sports
  • Increased participation in competitive sports

Our comprehensive, evidence-based reports clearly show the impact that our primary school sports coaching in Herefordshire makes on both individual children and on the school as a whole.
